Larynx

The larynx (plural larynges), commonly called the voice box, is an organ in the neck of amphibians, reptiles (incl. birds) and mammals (including humans) involved in breathing, sound production, and protecting the trachea against food aspiration. It manipulates pitch and volume. The larynx houses the vocal folds (commonly but improperly termed the "vocal cords"), which are essential for phonation. The vocal folds are situated just below where the tract of the pharynx splits into the trachea and the esophagus.

How can the body function without the larynx?
Q. How can the body function without the larynx (voice box)? Can you also include the source the answer is from? Thank you.

A. The larynx is one of the components of the human body that forms part of the respiratory tract. It guards the passage to the airways that lead to the lungs. This is one of the critical functions of the larynx. This function ensures that the airways are open, which means we get to breathe. Therefore, the larynx is a key component to the fact of our existence, as without the ability to breathe, we would be dead. I dont know anything about it, i just googled it, but i guess that the body CANT function without it.

Q. Or any other aspect of my voice?

A. Usually it takes something far more invasive than that to permanently damage the larynx/vocal chords/voice box (whatever you want to call it). Hoarseness is likely for a period of time, but it should subside. If you don't completely recover within a few days you should see an ear, nose, and throat specialist.
